The Council of Stars serves as one of the pivotal main quests during Act 3 of Obsidian Entertainment's critically acclaimed RPG, Pillars of Eternity. Taking place in the mystical region of Twin Elms, this storyline requires players to seek divine favor from the gods to pursue the main antagonist, Thaos. Understanding where to go and how to fulfill each deity's demands ensures a smooth progression into the final stages of the campaign.
Unlocking the Teir Evron Shrine and Story Location
To initiate the quest, players must navigate to Elms' Reach and consult with the delemgan sisters, Sîdha and Rîhenwn. They reveal that Thaos collapsed the direct path into Breith Eaman, forcing the Watcher to plunge through the abyss on Burial Isle. To survive this lethal descent, you must visit the holy sanctuary of Teir Evron and commune with the gods.
Inside Teir Evron, the central Hall of Stars houses distinct altars dedicated to various deities. Placing a Luminescent Adra Shard on the eastern altar unlocks the ability to recite specific ritual recitations. Speaking the correct words at each shrine summons a divine manifestation eager to strike a bargain with the Watcher.
Earning Divine Favor Through Deity Quests
Each major god residing within the shrine presents a specific challenge before granting their favor to the Watcher. For instance, Galawain tasks players with settling a territorial conflict between a lion and a bear in Galawain's Maw. Meanwhile, deities like Hylea, Berath, and Rymrgand ask for completion of unique objectives across the world map.
Players only need to earn the favor of a single deity to advance the main storyline and access Burial Isle. However, completing additional quests allows for richer roleplaying choices and extra experience points. Choosing which god to align with can also shape your ultimate narrative choices near the game's climax.
Descending to Burial Isle and Concluding the Quest
Once you return to Teir Evron and pledge your allegiance to a chosen god, the deity grants safe passage through the deep pit. Players must then travel to the western edge of Oldsong to hire passage to Burial Isle. Navigating through the island involves facing dangerous spirits, shadows, and powerful Cean Gwlas.
Reaching the Court of the Penitents at the north end allows the Watcher to leap directly into the pit without dying. Upon landing in Breith Eaman, the Council of Stars quest officially concludes alongside Court of the Penitents. This dramatic transition officially propels the narrative into the final act of Pillars of Eternity.
